InsertPictureFileBelow and then get new object

Hello,

I'm new to this DXL API and I have a question, which I hope someone can provide an answer to....

I am calling the insertPictureFileBelow function, to insert image below the current selection in the module, this is working fine.

I then need to get the Object , because I want to insert info into some other columns, for the new picture.

The best solution I have come up with so far is:

  • create a list of Object IDs below the current selection
  • call insertPictureFileBelow
  • compare the list to what is now in the module and find the difference.

That doesn't seem brilliant. Is there a way of doing this any better?

Thanks, Jon.

Have not used these Picture functions, but running the insertPictureFileBelow example script from DXL reference noted that after running the script the new picture object is selected and thus is the current object. So you could get the the object handle by declaring Object NewPicture = current. To be sure that it is a picture you could also check that the Picture attribute for that object is True.

Hi.

Yes, that works. It would be nice if this information was in the API documentation. Oh well.

Thanks for the help.
